Parks & Recreation

The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department offers unique parks, diverse facilities and a broad range of programs and special events for all ages to enjoy, in addition to features that enhance the region's historical and natural environmental heritage. A number of amenities are available for use by groups, families, and individuals at each of the St. Charles County parks. Included in this are picnic shelters, camping facilities, and indoor lodges that can host weddings, family functions, and business conferences.

Marksman Hunting Simulator

"Our Sporting Heritage" - New exhibit at the Heritage Museum features Marksman Hunting Simulator!

The latest exhibit at the Heritage Museum celebrates recreation by showcasing the history of hunting and fishing in St. Charles County and Missouri. The interactive digital hunting simulator allows visitors to experience the thrill of hunting duck, deer, bear, and boar, as well as clay targets. It was donated to the Parks Department by hunting enthusiast August A. Busch III and is only one of three of its kind in the United States.

Tips for Playing Pokémon Go! at St. Charles County Parks


We hope everyone is having a lot of fun playing Pokémon Go! in the parks! To help you stay safe on your journey, here are a few guidelines and tips to follow while playing Pokémon Go! in St. Charles County Parks:
  • Please respect park closing times. St. Charles County Parks are open from 7 a.m. until a half-hour after sunset.
  • Some park areas that have a Pokéstop, Gym or Pokémon may be reserved by other park guests. When park areas are marked as "Reserved," please do not intrude on those guests.
  • Whether driving or on foot, be aware of your park surroundings and proceed in a safe manner while searching for Pokémon in the park. Be aware that other park guests may be using the roadways and paths as well. Feel free to use our parking lots and non-reserved picnic areas to stop and get one's bearings before proceeding on to the next Pokémon.

Photography and Drone Policy/Special Authorization Form


Professional photographers seeking to take portraits, group photos, or conducting a photography project for a profit should review St. Charles County Parks' Professional Photography Policy and complete a request using the Special Authorization Form. The Special Use Permit named in the policy has been superseded by the Special Authorization Form. Unmanned Aircraft Systems and drone users should refer to the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Policy and submit this Special Use form prior to using these devices in St. Charles County Parks.
