The Police Department Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Unit is designed to have positive contact with all students from the time they enter the school system in kindergarten until high school graduation.
We have three full-time D.A.R.E. instructors and our six School Resource Officers assist with teaching approximately 1,800 students annually in 17 elementary schools.
D.A.R.E. was initiated in the Police Department in 1992 and the School Resource Officer program commenced in 1995.
