Animal Services

  1. Animal Control

The St. Charles County Division of Humane Services is responsible for enforcing the St. Charles County Animal Control Ordinance. This ordinance assists and protects the residents of St. Charles County’s unincorporated areas and contracting municipalities from nuisance or dangerous dogs and cats.

  2. Missing / Found Pets

Lost and stray dogs and cats picked up in unincorporated St. Charles County, and most municipalities, are kenneled at the County Pet Adoption Center.

  3. Pet Adoption Center

The St. Charles County Pet Adoption Center opened in November 1999 as the home to the Division of Humane Services. The 15,000-square foot facility provides space for a kennel housing dogs, cats, and other adoptable pets; a veterinary clinic to assist lost pets and stray animals; and administrative offices.

  4. Pet Selection

Finding the “right” pet to join your family is an exciting, but important step. Based upon your preferences, we can find a pet that meets your needs and wants.

  5. Wildlife

With St. Charles County’s population expanding and new subdivisions built in areas that were once uninhabited, there is a good chance that you may encounter wild creatures in and around your home.
