Local Highway, Route Construction and Closure Information from MoDOT
The entire stretch of Route W, from Interstate 70 to Route 61, will be closed to through traffic on Thursday, July 19, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Local traffic only will be allowed through the barricades, but drivers who live south of Farmview Lane should come from I-70, while those who live north of Quiet Village Drive should come from Route 61. The closure will allow crews to replace underground pipes as part of an ongoing project that will also add shoulders and resurface Route W. This is the third of four scheduled closures:
• Wednesday, July 25 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents who live south of Falcon Woods should come from I-70 and those north of Quiet Ridge Court should come from Route 61.
More information about those closures will be sent out once it is available. All work is weather permitting. For more information on the project, visit the website below.
A portion of the new overpass being built on Route 61 in St. Charles County will open to traffic tomorrow. Crews will close one lane on northbound Route 61 before Route P starting at 8 p.m. tonight to shift traffic and stripe the road. When the lane reopens by 5 a.m. tomorrow, the new ramp from northbound Route 61 to Route P will be open as will the new roundabout and a portion of David Hoekel Parkway.
There will still be no access from Route P to northbound or southbound Route 61. That portion of the new overpass will open later this summer. The overpass taking traffic from northbound Route 61 to Peine Road will open this fall, while the southbound Route 61 on and off ramps at Route P will open by next summer.
The new overpass is part of a project to improve safety on Route 61. In addition to the overpass that will serve Route P and Peine Road, the crossovers at Grothe Road and both Granville Drives will be closed. Merging and turning lanes will also be extended. The project is expected to be completed next summer. For more information on the project go to http://www.modot.org/stlouis/major_projects/Route61SafetyProject.htm.
MoDOT is conducting roadwork affecting the interchange at I-70 and Route K, and the outer roads between T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue through late 2018. For closures, detours and additional project information, visit the City of O'Fallon's website and the website below.
MoDOT will be closing a stretch of Route N in St. Charles County in early June to replace the bridge over Sam’s Creek. Route N will close at 8 a.m., Monday, June 4, at Sam’s Creek, located between Schaper Drive and Ellerman Oak Drive. Drivers on the west side of the closure should take Route T to eastbound I-70 to Route Z. Drivers on the east side of the closure should take Route Z to westbound I-70 to Route T and back to Route N. For more information on the project, visit the website below.
The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close access from Route 61 to Route P in St. Charles County for three months starting next week. In addition, traffic on northbound Route 61 will be shifted to allow crews to continue work on the new overpass being built on Route 61 between Route P and Peine Road.
Crews will close one lane of northbound Route 61 before Route P on Monday, April 30 at 8 p.m. When the lanes reopen at 5 a.m., traffic on northbound Route 61 will be shifted and drivers will no longer be able to access Route P. Drivers can take Grothe Road to Route P to detour around the closure.
The only exception is for the businesses at the intersection of Route P and Route 61. A temporary bypass from Route 61 will be open to access those locations only. There will be no access to Route P from the temporary bypass. The work is part of the project to add a new interchange on Route 61 between Route P and Peine Road.
