Released 11/20/09 - Update Priority Groups For November 21 H1N1 Clinic
This is an UPDATE to the news release on November 18. Clinic operator SARA Services has received a supply of H1N1 vaccine that is approved for children ages 6 months to 4 years.   
Released 11/19/09 - New Hours For County Parks and Donated, Installed Benches for Klondike Park
To better accommodate guests and improve the overall parks experience, the St. Charles County Parks Department will institute new general operation hours for its locations (except the Youth Activity Park).  
Winter Brothers Charitable Foundation, a private family foundation designed to benefit parkland and conservation projects in the Greater St. Louis area, donated and installed five benches at Klondike Park this week.

For a second consecutive weekend, the St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment is pleased to partner with SARA Services to conduct a public H1N1 flu vaccination clinic for county residents.

The 2009 St. Charles County Personal Property tax bills have been mailed, and Real Estate tax bills should follow within a week to 10 days, Michelle McBride, Collector of Revenue, said Monday.

Released 11/02/09 - Parks Department's Prescribed Burns, Promote Growth, Restore Natural Habitat
To enhance natural environments and eliminate non-native plant species inside park boundaries, the St. Charles County Parks Department's Forestry staff will work with Missouri Master Naturalists, trained volunteers, and local Fire Protection Districts to conduct prescribed burns during optimal weather conditions from November to April.

Femme Osage Creek Road, between Highway T and Cappeln Osage Road,  was reopened today (Oct. 27) as a new bridge and roadway have been completed.   
Released 10/15/09 - Highway Improvements Create New Route To Quail Ridge Park
The completion of work by the Missouri Department of Transportation to improve Interstate 64 (Highway 40/61) in St. Charles County has created a new means for arriving at the entrance to Quail Ridge Park.  While not affecting the park in any way, guests must now exit at Prospect Road (Exit 1C) and turn right on Duello Road to arrive at the park entrance.

More than 45 million households across the U.S. have at least one dog. You can join them, and "be a superhero" for a homeless animal, by adopting a dog during National Adopt a Shelter Dog Month in October.

St. Charles County Government will sell surplus vehicles from its fleet at a sale on Saturday, Oct. 24., at the Family Arena parking lot. The vehicles will be available for inspection from 8 a.m.-1 p.m.

Released 10/05/09 - First Shipment Of  H1N1 Vaccine On Its Way To St Charles County
The first doses of H1N1 (swine) flu vaccine are expected to be delivered to health care providers in St. Charles County later this week. It is being shipped directly from the vaccine manufacturer, which should reduce or eliminate any delay in getting it out to those who need it.

Larry G. Crawford, the former Director of the Missouri Department of Corrections, was named Friday (Sept. 25) to head the St. Charles County Corrections Department, pending approval by the County Council at Monday night's (Sept. 28) meeting.

Fees paid by residents and others for services performed by St. Charles County Sheriff's Department Deputies should remain in St. Charles County, and not be distributed elsewhere in the state to increase the pay for deputies in other counties.

Released 09/14/09 - County Seeks $100 Million To Complete Page Project
Armed with letters of support from Gov. Jay Nixon, Sen. Christopher S. "Kit" Bond, Sen. Claire C. McCaskill, U.S. Rep. Todd Akin and U.S. Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer, St. Charles County Government has applied for a $100 million federal grant to complete the third and final phase of the Page Avenue Extension Project.

The St. Charles County Parks Department, Gateway Off-Road Cyclists (GORC), and many of the area's leading bicycle shops will join to celebrate Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Frontier Park and the Louis H. Bangert Memorial Wildlife Area.

Released 09/01/09 - County Cuts Property Tax Rates For General Fund
The St. Charles County Council set the property tax rates for 2009 at Monday night's regularly scheduled meeting, approving a bill requested by County Executive Steve Ehlmann that reduces the amount collected for the general fund and keeps the rates the same as last year for two other funds.

The St. Charles County Department of Community Health and the Environment is looking for a few good men and women. Novel H1N1 flu, also known as swine flu, is expected to return this fall, and volunteers may be needed to help staff vaccination clinics or perform other tasks as part of the response.

St. Charles County Parks Director Bettie Yahn-Kramer recommended to the St. Charles County Council the acquisition of three parcels as future parkland.  Located in the western portion of the county near New Melle (near the intersection of Highway Z and Foristell Road), the parcels will make a 242-acre addition to the Parks Department - increasing the amount of public land preserved as county parks to 2,855 acres.

As required by state law, the St. Charles County Assessor's Office plans to mail approximately 35,000 personal property declaration forms by the end of March to taxpayers who failed to respond to the initial mailing in January.

In partnership with the Julia Dent Grant Tent of the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865, and the St. Charles AMVETS Post 106, the St. Charles County Parks Department will sponsor a flag retirement ceremony at 3 p.m., May 2, at Shelter #5 in Quail Ridge Park.  To facilitate the event, the Parks Department invites volunteer participants from area civic, veteran, and youth groups to carry out vital roles in the ceremony.

To kick off the St. Charles County Parks Department's popular Passport to St. Charles County Parks walks this year, the department will host an eagle viewing/guided hike at 9 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Hideaway Harbor Park.  The two-hour Passport program offers a free and relaxing way to tour St. Charles County's parks and to learn about their amenities.

Since 1990, when the first Recycle Works location opened, St. Charles County residents have recycled more than 25 million pounds of material. This has helped reduce the burden on local landfills and helped keep our environment cleaner.
