Dave Hammond's 32 years working for local government, including 20+ years in St. Charles County, give him an advantage in understanding his constituents and their concerns, as well as County and regional issues.
Dave served in the military and has an extensive background in building, inspections, planning and zoning. After working in St. Louis County, Dave was hired by St. Peters as Building Commissioner in 1985. Through that position, Dave headed up damage assessment after the "Great Flood of 1993." In 1994, Dave joined St. Charles County Government as the Director of the Building Division in the Community Development Department.
After 16 years with the County, Dave retired in 2010. Two years after retiring, Dave ran for the County Council District 4 seat and won. "I enjoyed working in government and wanted to give back now that I have the time," said Dave about why he ran for office. "I enjoy helping people and thought my years of experience could be put to good use." He successfully ran for County Council office in 2016 for another four-year term.
Dave has two grown children and two grandsons, of whom he is very proud and considers his greatest achievement. In his free time, Dave also likes to fish, hunt, and travel. In addition to his work on the County Council, Dave has served as President, Vice President and Board Member of the Loyal Order of the Squirrels, a local charity serving St. Charles County residents.
