The project is a cooperative effort between the St. Charles County Highway Department and the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) to facilitate traffic flow, improve safety, and provide pedestrian and bicycle access. Proposed improvements include:
Reconstruct and widen road to 3-lane section.
Provide curb and gutter and enclosed drainage.
Install a new traffic signal at the intersection with Motherhead Road.
Add an 8-foot multi-use path on both sides of the road.
The project is funded by St. Charles County’s ½-cent Transportation Sales Tax and with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Surface Transportation Program-Suballocated (STP-S) funding. The engineering design consultant is GBA, Inc. and the project is estimated to cost approximately $4.2M.

Right of Way plans have been approved by MoDOT. Right-of-Way and easement acquisition work started back in February 2021. Numerous parcels have settled. The remaining parcels were referred for eminent domain (condemnation) proceedings. Condemnation cases are nearly complete, with court hearings completed on June 24 and June 27. Construction is anticipated to begin late 2022 after ROW has been cleared and the project advertised and awarded.
