In 2010, the St. Charles County Heritage Museum opened its first exhibit on the German migration to and culture in St. Charles County. The exhibit told the story of the brave people who left behind their homes and not only survived, but left a permanent mark on St. Charles County.
This exhibit focused on how and why Germans migrated to the United States, and how they made this foreign land a home. It told the stories of immigrants arriving, the trades they took up, and the communities that formed through Religion, shared culture such as wine making, and how they interacted with those already living in St. Charles.
The exhibit featured images of prominent local German migrants, as well as examples of their material culture including looms, printing presses.
