Candidate Filing Information

  • When to File: Candidate filing opens at 8 a.m., Feb. 27, 2024, and closes at 5 p.m., March 26, 2024. 
  • Where to File: Candidates for the following offices will file at the St. Charles County Election Authority at 397 Turner Blvd., St. Peters, MO 63376:
    • County Council Members - Districts 2, 4 and 6
    • Associate Circuit Court Judges - Divisions 13, 14 and 16
    • County Prosecuting Attorney
    • Republican Township Committees - Committeemen and Committeewomen
    • Democratic Township Committees - Committeemen and Committeewomen
    • Libertarian Township Committees - Committeemen and Committeewomen
  • Ballot Placement: Candidates filing on the first day by 5 p.m. will select a number by random drawing. The random number drawn determines the candidate's primary ballot placement. After the first day, candidates are placed on the ballot in the order of their filing.
  • Documents Needed for Filing:
    • Filing fee (Sections 115.306 and 115.357 RSMo)
      $100 – County Council Members
      $100 – Associate Circuit Court Judges
      $100 – County Prosecuting Attorney
      No filing fee for Township Committeemen and Committeewomen

    • Proof of Identity – Voter identification card, Missouri driver’s license, birth certificate, or other form of certified identification.

    • A copy of an affidavit notarized and filed with the Department of Revenue. Information about this requirement is available from the Department of Revenue. (This requirement does not apply to Township Committeemen and Committeewomen.)
