Local Highway, Route Construction Information from MoDOT
There will be overnight lane closures on various stretches of Route 61 this week as part of the ongoing Route 61 Improvement Project. Crews will close either northbound or southbound Route 61 in various locations from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. starting tonight and continuing through Friday, Feb. 8. The work will allow crews to remove the pavement at the previously closed crossovers. All work is weather permitting. For more information on the Route 61 Improvement project, go to http://www.modot.org/stlouis/major_projects/Route61SafetyProject.htm.
Later this week, the new westbound I-70 exit to Route K in St. Charles County will open to traffic. The new ramp will also allow drivers to access the north outer road (East Terra Lane). When the new ramp opens sometime before afternoon rush on Friday, Nov. 30, the current westbound I-70 exit to Route K will close. At the same time the new ramp from East Terra to westbound I-70 will open. Drivers on T.R. Hughes will once again have access to westbound I-70 via the new ramp on East Terra. The changes are part of the I-70 Traffic Flow Improvement project. For more information on the project go to https://www.ofallon.mo.us/i-70-improvements-project.
Starting today, the T.R. Hughes ramp to westbound I-70 will be closed. The ramp will be relocated as part of the I-70 improvement project going on between T.R. Hughes and Route K. The new, relocated ramp will reopen later this year. Drivers can detour around the ramp closure by either taking the I-70 North Outer Road (East Terra) to Route K or taking Mexico to Route K. Please allow extra time while using these detour routes as the extra traffic could cause delays. For more information on the I-70 Improvement Project being done in conjunction with the City of O’Fallon, please visit the project website at https://www.ofallon.mo.us/i-70-improvements-project.
MoDOT is conducting roadwork affecting the interchange at I-70 and Route K, and the outer roads between T.R. Hughes Boulevard and Woodlawn Avenue through late 2018. For closures, detours and additional project information, visit the City of O'Fallon's website and the website below.
