Local Highway, Route Construction and Closure Information from MoDOT

7-12-18

Crews will be working next week to open a portion of the new overpass at Route 61 and Route P/Peine Road. In order to do so, crews will close one lane on northbound Route 61 before Route P on Monday, July 16 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. so they can shift the barrier wall and stripe the ramp. When the lane reopens the new ramp from northbound Route 61 to Route P will be open. In addition, the roundabout and a portion of David Hoekel Parkway will open.

Although access from northbound Route 61 to Route P will be open, there will still be no access from Route P to Route 61 or from southbound Route 61 to Route P. Those will open at a later date. Crews will also have one lane closed on northbound Route 61 before Route P on Tuesday, July 17 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to finish up ramp work. For more information on the project, go to http://www.modot.org/stlouis/major_projects/Route61SafetyProject.htm.

The entire stretch of Route W, from Interstate 70 to Route 61, will be closed to through traffic starting on Thursday, July 12 at noon. Local traffic only will be allowed through the barricades, but drivers will need to know which side of Route W they need to be on. Those who live south of Duenke Road should come from I-70, while those who live north of Shady Creek Lane should come from Route 61. The road will reopen by Friday, July 13 at noon. The closure will allow crews to replace underground pipes as part of an ongoing project that will also add shoulders and resurface Route W. This is the first of four scheduled closures:

• Tuesday, July 17 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents who live south of Duenke Road should come from I-70 and those north of Shady Creek Lane should come from Route 61.
• Thursday, July 19 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents who live south of Farmview Lane should come from I-70 and those north of Quiet Village Drive should come from Route 61.
• Wednesday, July 24 from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents who live south of Falcon Woods should come from I-70 and those north of Quiet Ridge Court should come from Route 61.

More information about those closures will be sent out once it is available. All work is weather permitting. For more information on the project, visit the website below.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will close access from Route 61 to Route P in St. Charles County for three months starting next week. In addition, traffic on northbound Route 61 will be shifted to allow crews to continue work on the new overpass being built on Route 61 between Route P and Peine Road.

Crews will close one lane of northbound Route 61 before Route P on Monday, April 30 at 8 p.m. When the lanes reopen at 5 a.m., traffic on northbound Route 61 will be shifted and drivers will no longer be able to access Route P. Drivers can take Grothe Road to Route P to detour around the closure.

The only exception is for the businesses at the intersection of Route P and Route 61. A temporary bypass from Route 61 will be open to access those locations only. There will be no access to Route P from the temporary bypass. The work is part of the project to add a new interchange on Route 61 between Route P and Peine Road. For more information on the project, visit the website below.
