Auto thefts in the St. Charles County region continue to be top of mind for law enforcement and prosecutors. The St. Charles County Police Department and the County’s Prosecuting Attorney’s Office joined St. Louis County area departments for a press conference Tuesday, Nov. 16, to raise awareness and show unity in addressing a recent upsurge in car break-ins, motor vehicle thefts, and catalytic converter thefts.

6.10.21 Treetop Drive to Close Between Ivy and Country Club for Concrete Pavement Replacement
The St. Charles County Highway Department will close Treetop Drive between Ivy Court and Country Club Road, weather permitting, from Monday, June 21, 2021, to Thursday, July 8, 2021, to allow for removal and replacement of deteriorated concrete pavement. The work will be completed in phases: The westbound lane will close June 21 and is expected to reopen July 1, and the eastbound lane will close June 28 and is expected to reopen July 8.

7.24.20 St. Charles City, County Install New Drive-Up Drop Boxes for Residents
The City of St. Charles and St. Charles County Government have partnered to install drop boxes for residents to submit bill payments and other items. The secure boxes are located on a drive-up island on Second Street in St. Charles and provide a safe, convenient alternative to entering St. Charles City Hall or the St. Charles County Administration Building. They replace payment boxes located in front of the buildings.

6.9.20 St. Charles County Government Offers Non-Profit Agencies PPE Assistance

Charles County is making available limited quantities of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at no cost to non-profit organizations operating in and serving individuals within the county under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. 5.20.20 St. Charles County Government to Open Administration, Public Health and PD Buildings to...
St. Charles County Government buildings have been closed to the public since Wednesday, March 25, to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health of the community and County employees. On Friday, May 29, the County Administration Building, 201 N. Second St., the Department of Public Health, 1650 Boone’s Lick Rd., both in St. Charles; and the St. Charles County Police Department, 101 Sheriff Dierker Ct., O’Fallon, are reopening with modifications to access and services. Remaining County buildings, including Courts, are scheduled to reopen Monday, June 1.

To better protect our residents and employees from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), all St. Charles County buildings, including the Administration Building at 201 North Second St., have been closed to the public. The Administration Building is where many residents go for services from departments including the Assessor, Collector of Revenue, Community Development and Recorder of Deeds.

3.17.20 P&Z Commission Revises Agenda; Encourages Residents to Comment Early, Watch from Home
The St. Charles County Planning & Zoning Commission has posted a revised agenda for its 7 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, meeting to encourage limited attendance in adherence to restrictions of gatherings of more than 50 people to protect citizens from the spread of COVID-19. The agenda is posted on the County’s website through the Planning & Zoning Commission webpage at sccmo.org/PlanningZoningCommission and items removed from the original agenda will be delayed until the April meeting.

The St. Charles County Council voted Jan. 27 to rename the County’s airport to reflect the continued growth and economic development in the region. Formerly known as St. Charles County – Smartt Field Airport, the new name is now St. Charles County Regional Airport – Smartt Field.

The public is invited to learn details about the Route N and Route Z Intersection Realignment project at an open house from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, at St. Gianna Parish Hall, 450 East Highway N in Wentzville. Those in attendance will have an opportunity to express their views on the location and design of the new signalized intersection and can attend at any time during the open house, as there will be no formal presentation.

8.8.19 Updated Construction Information: Portion of Westwood Drive Restricted to One-Way Traffic
On Aug. 7, the St. Charles County Highway Department restricted a portion of eastbound Westwood Drive to one-way traffic for installation of new pavement and shoulders. The area, which will be restricted for approximately five months, is roughly half-way between Dunbarton Drive and South Breeze Lane and ends at Motherhead Road. All other areas of Westwood Drive remain open to two-way traffic.

6.1.17 Text-to-911 Service Launches in St. Charles County
St. Charles County residents and those traveling through the county now can use text-to-911 on mobile devices at times when a 911 call is not safe or practical. This service is the latest step in a county-wide upgrade of the 911 system.

The St. Charles County Highway Department will close Greens Bottom Road between Amrein Road and 1.2 miles east of Pitman Hill Road beginning Monday, March 13, 2017, to allow for the second and final phase of the new Greens Bottom Road improvements. The improvements include wider lanes, shoulders and improved drainage. The vertical roadway alignment also will be improved to provide better sight distance for drivers.

By Nov. 30, more than 355,000 tax bills for 2016 are scheduled to be mailed by the St. Charles County Collector of Revenue. For the second year, real estate and personal property bills will be combined into one bill in one envelope for the convenience of the taxpayer.

9.26.16 St. Charles County Council Approves Prescription Drug Monitoring Program
St. Charles County took a historic step in fighting drug abuse when it passed an ordinance tonight to establish a prescription drug monitoring program (PDMP) for the County. The ordinance, requested by County Executive Steve Ehlmann and sponsored by Councilman Joe Brazil, includes all municipalities in the County and passed unanimously.

ProductCamp, a user-driven, collaborative “unconference” geared toward those who build, design, market or manage a product or service, is coming to St. Charles County. The event is scheduled for

An online survey developed by the Manufacturing Task Force of the St. Charles County Workforce Development Board will assist more than 300 St. Charles County manufacturers in recruiting skilled workers and continuing to grow and succeed in the community.

6.1.16 Deer Creek Road Extension Open Between Highway P and Elaine Drive
The St. Charles County Highway Department opened the Deer Creek Road Extension project. The project connects Deer Creek Drive and Elaine Drive to provide a link over Peruque Creek, and adds an additional north-south roadway between Highway P and the I-70 North Outer Road. The route is west of Highway M (Main Street) and east of Hoff Road in O’Fallon.

5.25.16 Assessor to Mail Notices of Assessment Change
The St. Charles County Assessor’s office will mail 42,227 notices on May 26, 2016, to inform taxpayers of changes to personal property assessments. Taxpayers who reported additional personal property or made corrections on their assessment form this year will receive the notice. County Assessor Scott Shipman said the goals of this mailing are to involve taxpayers in the assessment process and to make it less burdensome to the taxpayer.

As required by state law, the St. Charles County Assessor plans to mail approximately 46,000 personal property assessment forms by March 18 to taxpayers who failed to respond to the initial January mailing. Forms were due by March 1. Late filing penalties will be applied on May 1.

1.22.16 State Flood Debris Removal Program to End in Unincorporated County Jan. 31
The State Flood Debris Removal Program, “Operation Recovery,” will conclude in unincorporated St. Charles County on Sunday, Jan. 31. Residents in unincorporated St. Charles County who require assistance in the removal of debris from last month’s rain and floods should contact the St. Charles County Police Department’s Division of Emergency Management by noon on Wednesday, Jan. 27.

The St. Charles County Police Division of Emergency Management is asking affected residents in unincorporated St. Charles County to contact the division to arrange for December 2015 flood and heavy rain-related debris pickup through the State Flood Debris Removal Program.

10.5.15 Hopewell Road Bridge to Close Between Highway N and Diehr Road on Oct. 12
The St. Charles County Highway Department will close the Hopewell Road Bridge on Monday, Oct. 12, for the installation of new culverts, pavement and guardrail. The Hopewell Road Bridge is approximately 0.5 miles south of Highway N and 0.3 miles north of Diehr Road. The closure is anticipated to last until early December, weather pending, after which time the road will be re-opened to traffic.

9.4.15 Public Invited to Fifth Street Interchange Open House on Sept. 10
The public is invited to learn more about the Fifth Street Interchange Project at an open house on Thursday, Sept. 10, from 4-6 p.m. at the St. Charles County Administration Building, 201 N. Second Street, St. Charles. The project is a cooperative effort funded by St. Charles County, the City of St. Charles, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration to improve traffic flow and stimulate economic development.

The St. Charles County Assessor’s office will mail 44,661 notices on June 12, 2015, to notify taxpayers of changes to personal property assessments. Due to inclement weather, the St. Charles County Highway Department has revised the date for the temporary closure of a portion of Cappeln Osage Road from Wednesday, February 18, 2015, to Tuesday, February 24, 2015, to allow for construction of a new bridge. The closure is immediately south of Femme Osage Creek Road and 0.7 miles from Highway T.

St. Charles County Government has several programs available to provide home repair, property improvement and transportation assistance to eligible persons who live in “St. Charles Urban County,” which includes the cities of Cottleville, Dardenne Prairie, Lake St. Louis, St. Paul, St. Peters, Weldon Spring, Wentzville and the unincorporated area of St. Charles County.
