January and February can be tough months in the Midwest. The holidays are over, the weather is cold, and the desire to stay indoors and hibernate is sometimes overbearing. But the good news is, we don’t have to! The winter months are a great time to enjoy St. Charles County Parks and say goodbye to cabin fever. Our Parks system, which is funded by a local use tax approved by voters in 1997, is open year-round for walkers, runners, hikers, bikers or any outdoor enthusiast.

As representative for District 6 in St. Charles County, a large part of my district runs the length of the Mississippi River – there for all of us to marvel at its beauty, enjoy its attractions, and to take part in the recreational opportunities it has to offer. One of the best opportunities is boating, and as a boating enthusiast I know that spring and summer means it’s time for fun along the river! Since opening in 1996, the Highway 370 corridor has drawn an immense amount of development. The vast, empty fields have become trucking hubs for freight liners and warehouses for businesses. Additionally, there are banking facilities, investment offices, distributors, daycares, gas stations, restaurants, sports fields and parks – and the growth is not stopping.
