The Department of Public Health collaborates with medical professionals, as well as local, regional, state, and federal agencies, to monitor the well-being of St. Charles County residents throughout the year. During flu season (late fall to early spring in our community), the division tracks cases of influenza reported through doctor’s offices and area hospitals. This report is a compilation of those cases reported to the division through this period.

For St. Charles County, the 2017-2018 influenza season was the busiest since reporting began in 2005-2006. Since October 2017, 8,640 cases of the flu were reported to the Department of Public Health - more than doubling the previous high recorded last season. The busiest weeks were the period from Dec. 23, 2017 through Jan. 21, 2018, when more than 3,100 cases were reported. As observed throughout the United States, positive cases of both Influenza A and B were reported in St. Charles County.
