St. Charles County, Missouri – The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department’s popular Fish University is back this year! Our four courses – 101, 102, 103 and 104 – are the perfect way for children to learn and expand their fishing skills with our expert Park Rangers.
Fish University 101: This two-day class, which is ideal for beginners and intermediate anglers, is from 9 a.m.–4 p.m., Tuesday, June 12 and Wednesday, June 13, at Quail Ridge Park near Wentzville. Young anglers learn and use a variety of techniques while fishing in ponds, lakes, and streams in the park. Cost of the program is $30 per participant, which includes a Fish University T-shirt, their very own fishing pole and tackle box with all the supplies needed to make that perfect catch! Please note: Participation in this course or one of our previous Fish Camps, is a prerequisite for others in the series.
Fish University 102: This class is from 9 a.m.–noon on Wednesday, June 20 at Quail Ridge Park. Bring your fishing pole and let us help you to expand the knowledge you gained in Fish University 101. Participants learn about various lures and bait, and then test their skills and try their luck. Cost of the program is $10.
Fish University 103: Held at Betty’s Lake in Broemmelsiek Park near Defiance, this course meets from
9 a.m.–noon on Wednesday, June 27 at Betty’s Lake in Broemmelsiek Park near Defiance. Participants expand on what they have been taught in previous Fish University classes plus learn how fish for bass with lures and other techniques. Participants must have attended Fish University 101 or one of our previous Fish Camps to be eligible for this session. Cost of the program is $10.
Fish University 104: This night fishing class is from 6–10 p.m. on Wednesday, July 11, at Betty’s Lake in Broemmelsiek Park. The course expands on knowledge gained in previous Fish University classes plus learn to fish for catfish, how to lure the fish to the hook, different bait options and other techniques. Cost of the program is $10.
