St. Charles County, Missouri – Celebrate a Missouri tradition at Boone Heritage Days from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29, and from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30, at The Historic Daniel Boone Home near Defiance. Citizens from across the state are invited to enjoy FREE frontier festivities, demonstrations and live shooting matches during this two-day event that pays tribute to Daniel Boone, one of the first American heroes and a great explorer and hunter of his time.

Guests will be entertained throughout the day by The Trappers of Starved Rock, an educational antique firearms club and popular living history organization. The group will demonstrate “front loading” techniques and sharp shooting skills as they participate in live black-powder contests. Guests also can visit with living history interpreters in the village’s gunsmith cabin, learn wood working at the carpenter’s shop, or barter and trade with the general store owner! Additionally, demonstrators will be on hand to teach the traditional way of brain tanning deer hides.

During the event, paid tours will be available of the historic Daniel Boone Home where Boone lived in his last years. Guests will relive the adventures and dangerous events of the famous pioneer during the 1800s. Admission is $8 (adults), $6 (age 60+) and $5 (ages 5-12). Active/retired military and children 4 and under are FREE. With your purchase of a tour, you can chat with the great frontiersman himself, portrayed by 30-year Boone Home volunteer, Barney Combs.

For more information about the Boone Heritage Days, call The Historic Daniel Boone Home at 636-798-2237.
