St. Charles County, Missouri – Design the perfect Thanksgiving decoration this season with the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department! Adults and children ages 8 and up can make decorative gourd art from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m., Nov. 3, at the Hands-On Heritage: Gourd Crafting Painting and Birdhouses program at The Historic Daniel Boone Home near Defiance.
Learn how to paint designs, a snowman or Santa Claus on gourds with skilled staff on the frontier under The Grand Pavilion. Arrive early; it takes at least an hour to paint a gourd and two hours to create a birdhouse.

While you’re visiting the park, take a guided tour of The Historic Daniel Boone Home. Tours are offered at the top of every hour - tickets for adults are $8, seniors $6, children ages 5-12 are $5, and active/retired military and children under 4 are free. There’s no charge for self-guided tours of the village grounds.
