St. Charles County, Missouri- The Office of Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar announces that Megan L. Hendricks, 22, of Wentzville, MO was sentenced today to serve 21 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, following her plea of guilty to Abuse and Neglect of a Child resulting in death.
Charges filed against Megan Hendricks allege that between October 18 and November 7, 2016, Hendricks knowingly allowed her son J. B., a minor child who was at the time approximately 6 weeks of age, to be abused at the hands of his father, co-defendant Robert Burnette, causing J.B. serious physical injury. Prosecutors alleged that Burnette injured the infant by violently shaking him, slamming the infant into a bed face first, and shoving her fingers down the infant’s throat to stop him from crying. Prosecutors alleged that Hendricks failed to intervene, failed to provide care reasonable and necessary to save the infant from serious injuries and death, thereby allowing the abuse to continue. The infant later died as a result of the injuries sustained from his abuse. Hendricks entered a guilty plea to the charges on August 30, 2018.
Hendricks co-defendant Robert Burnette, 22, of Wentzville, MO was sentenced to 26 years on February 8, 2019.
Thirty years in the maximum sentence allowed by law. The sentence was imposed by the Honorable Jon Cunningham.
