St. Charles County, Missouri – Learn how to cook the old-fashioned way from 1–4 p.m., Saturday, April 6, at Hands-On Heritage: Hearth Cooking at The Historic Daniel Boone Home in Defiance. The art of hearth cooking will be taught by park staff using 1800s cooking utensils and equipment, including a tin kitchen and baking kettle.
Participants will learn to blend fresh ingredients with traditional hearth cooking techniques to prepare a 19th century-inspired meal in the historic Engeldew House located on site. After the food is prepped and the meal has finished cooking in the hearth, participants will dine on the historic dish they have prepared.
This program is intended for ages 10 and up and is $15 per person. Limited spots are available! To make a reservation for Hands-On Heritage: Hearth Cooking, call the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department at 636-949-7535.
