St. Charles County, Missouri – A panel of experts from the St. Charles County Public Health Department will present “Public Health: People. Pets. Planet.” from 7-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 at the Community Commons, Spencer Road Library Branch, in St. Peters. The free event is part of the County’s ongoing Speaker Series program.
Participants will discover why St. Charles County is the “Healthiest County” in Missouri, learn about immunizations, health screenings, restaurant inspections, pet adoptions, recycling and more. The panel of experts will share tips about staying healthy and safe and talk about current challenges and future plans for the health of our community.
“The staff look forward to presenting this panel discussion,” says Hope Woodson, Director of Public Health. “We are in the process of conducting a county-wide effort to identify public health issues within the community and develop strategies to address those concerns. We are eager to talk with those in attendance about that exciting initiative. And as the title of the event demonstrates, staff will discuss and answer questions concerning all areas of health – people, pets and our planet.”
Prior to the panel discussion, residents are encouraged to attend an hour-long County Government information fair with representatives from County departments. Staff from the departments of Emergency Management, Emergency Communications, Community Development, Police, Collector of Revenue, Sheriff, Election Authority, Workforce Development, Public Health, Parks, Human Resources and the Prosecuting Attorney will be on hand to answer questions about County programs and services. The information fair will begin at 6 p.m., and light refreshments will be available.
“We are pleased to have this opportunity to connect with St. Charles County residents,” says County Executive Steve Ehlmann. “It gives us a chance to talk with residents about the essential services they receive from their County Government. We hope residents will talk with us about how we can continue to work to serve them better.”
