St. Charles County, Missouri – Bring your drone or unmanned aircraft systems to the Youth Activity Park (YAP) in Dardenne Prairie for a morning of flying and obstacle course fun at Drone Zone, a new program hosted by the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department! The YAP is located at 7801 Highway N and will be open from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13, and Friday, Oct. 11, for drone users only.

Interested participants with drones weighing under 55 pounds are invited to fly them through a series of hoops and obstacles in the park. Participants must keep their drones within the park boundaries of the YAP and will have use of the entire outside area.

To participate, drone users must complete and submit a Special Use/Drone Permit prior to entering the park. The form can be found on the Parks Department’s website at stccparks.org, under “Forms and Policies” in the left menu, or a copy can be requested by calling the Parks Administrative Office at 636-949-7535. Approval can take a couple days to complete, so participants are encouraged to submit this form early. Participants also must comply with the St. Charles County Parks Unmanned Aircraft Systems Policy also found on the website.

The program is free and open to spectators of all ages; registration is not required. For more information about the Special Use/Drone Permit and the approval process, call the park at 636-561-4964.
