ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – The St. Charles County Department of Public Health and Frontier Health & Rehabilitation, St. Charles, confirmed today that seven additional residents of the facility have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of residents testing positive to 42. Of that number, five have died from complictions. One additional staff member has tested positive, bringing the total number of staff members testing positive to eight. Nineteen residents showing COVID-19 symptoms have tested negative; the results of six additional tests of residents are pending.
“Over the past month, the St. Charles County Department of Public Health has provided the testing and collaboration needed to protect the health of our residents and staff,” says Dave Murphy, CEO of REACH LTC, owner of Frontier Health & Rehabilitation. “We are now taking the additional precautionary step of testing any residents who may have been exposed to COVID-19, whether they show the symptoms or not.”
Murphy says staff continues to conduct one-on-one activities with residents daily and help them use the facility’s collaborative technologies to stay in touch with their families. “On behalf of the hard-working and dedicated staff at Frontier, I want to thank the families of our residents for the caring and understanding they have shown us as we work to clinically stabilize this unfortunate situation,” he says.
Anyone who has COVID-19 symptoms such as dry cough and fever, should isolate themselves from others and call a healthcare provider. People who visited the facility but do not have symptoms do not need to self-quarantine unless they notice COVID-19 symptoms.
