St. Charles County, Missouri – Children of all ages and their families will once again be able to enjoy the outdoors, stay active, and read while visiting Quail Ridge Park near Wentzville this summer!
Join the St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department and St. Charles City-County Library District from 3 - 5 p.m., on Monday, June 1, as we celebrate the third annual Picture Book Walk at Quail Ridge Park and the beginning of sum¬mer reading. Quail Ridge Park is located at 5501 Quail Ridge Parkway, Wentzville, MO 63385.
The event will begin with guided readings around the lake of acclaimed children’s book Birds by Kevin Henkes. After the ¾ mile walk, guests will be able to go inside the Quail Ridge Lodge to enjoy a variety of free children’s festivi¬ties, crafts, and light refreshments. Children will be able to make a “tree cookie necklace” made out of cedar, create a bird and super hero craft made out of a variety of supplies, and sign up for the library’s Summer Reading Program. At 4 p.m., the St. Charles County Park Rangers take the stage to present “The Call of the Wild,” an exciting sound presentation about animals that live in the wild!
“I am delighted to continue to offer families the opportunity to get outside, reconnected with nature, and read at Quail Ridge Park,” says Parks Director Bettie Yahn-Kramer.
