The Office of Prosecuting Attorney Joseph G. McCulloch announces that on September 15, 2023, Joseph M. Liszewski, 37, of Lake St. Louis, was charged with Murder 1st Degree, Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Charges arose after police officers responded to the residence for a request to check the well-being of the resident. Officers observed drops of blood on the front porch upon arrival at the residence. Officers entered the residence and located the victim in the master bedroom with severe trauma to his face. The victim appears to have suffered a gunshot wound to the left side of his face. Liszewski was escorted to the Lake St. Louis Police Department where he was read his rights per Miranda prior to being interviewed. During the interview, Liszewski stated that he was arguing back and forth with the victim when he shot the victim in the face with a shotgun that was kept in the kitchen for “safety.” Liszewski remained in the residence with the victim for several hours without calling for assistance, alleging that the victim requested that he not contact 911.
Liszewski is currently in custody and has a bond of $1,000,000.00. This matter is now pending before The Honorable Dennis R. Chassaniol.
