St. Charles County, Missouri – The St. Charles County Highway Department is opening the recently constructed section of Interstate Drive, running from Quail Ridge Park to Route Z, to traffic today, July 1.

“We are pleased to announce the new traffic signal on Route Z will become operational today, which now allows us to open a new section of Interstate Drive. We’ve been anxiously awaiting this day since the new roadway was completed last fall,” said Craig Tajkowski, County Engineer. “This new roadway will not only give motorists an alternate route to travel between Route Z and Interstate 64, but will also provide an alternate route to Quail Ridge Park for people living to the south and west.”

Tajkowski adds that even though the work is completed, the St. Charles County Highway Department encourages everyone to use caution when driving through this area while motorists become acclimated to the new signal at Route Z.

This road project is part of a continuing effort by St. Charles County Government to improve the county’s road system for the safety of the traveling public. For more information about road projects underway in unincorporated St. Charles County, please call the Highway Department at (636) 949-7305.
