ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MISSOURI- The office of Prosecuting Attorney Tim Lohmar announces that Matthew Howze, 40, of Bowling Green, plead guilty to one count of theft/stealing and one count tampering with physical evidence was sentenced to 5 years on count one and four years on count two. Both sentences were suspended to afford Howze the opportunity to complete five years of probation. Conditions for both counts include restitution, no employment in law enforcement, substance abuse evaluation and treatment, hair follicle testing and 60 days of house arrest.
Charges arose in February of 2015 when Howze, a former officer with the St. Charles County Police Department, knowingly and intentionally took property from vehicles valued at over $500.00 without consent. It was later determined that Howze, while employed, stole property from the police department.
The Honorable Judge Cunningham handed down the sentence.
