St. Charles County, Missouri – The St. Charles County Assessor’s office will mail 42,227 notices on May 26, 2016, to inform taxpayers of changes to personal property assessments. Taxpayers who reported additional personal property or made corrections on their assessment form this year will receive the notice. County Assessor Scott Shipman said the goals of this mailing are to involve taxpayers in the assessment process and to make it less burdensome to the taxpayer.

“This notice alerts taxpayers of the change in their personal property assessment and allows time to appeal the value within the statutory appeal timeframe,” said Shipman. “Our intention is to help citizens avoid issues at the end of the year when they receive their tax bills. At that point, it is too late to appeal the assessed value.”

Visit the St. Charles County Assessor’s Office online at http://www.sccmo.org/Assessor for more information, frequently asked questions regarding property taxes and appeal procedures, and to access the Assessor’s database. Citizens can also contact the Assessor’s office for assistance at 636-949-7420 or 1-800-822-4012, ext. 7420.
