St. Charles County, Missouri – St. Charles County has hired Amanda Brauer, PE, PTOE, as roads and traffic manager. She replaces John Greifzu, who served as director of transportation prior to accepting a position as the County’s assistant director of administration.

Brauer will join the County on Aug. 1. She will manage road projects and funding, including the county’s ½ cent Transportation Sales Tax, as well as plan future infrastructure improvements. She will play a key role in arranging funding partnerships and planning major road projects.

Brauer currently serves as project engineer for the Lochmueller Group, a civil engineering firm with offices located in St. Peters and St Louis. She has more than 12 years of transportation engineering experience in a diverse range of projects including conducting traffic studies, capacity and operational analysis, signal planning, design and retiming, traffic noise modeling, roadway signage and pavement marking, maintenance of traffic and construction staging and highway and roadway geometric design. At Lochmueller Group, she was lead traffic engineer for the 1-44/MO 141 Interchange Reconstruction Design/Build in St. Louis County, and for the I-70 Outer Roads Access Justification Report for O’Fallon, Mo. On this latter project, Brauer coordinated a project team which consisted of staff from the City of O’Fallon, St. Charles County, the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and various consultants.

Prior to her position at Lochmueller Group, Brauer was senior transportation engineer with Jacobs Engineering Group, Inc., and transportation engineer with CBB Transportation, both in St. Louis. Additionally, she served as a highway designer with MoDOT.

“Amanda brings a wealth of engineering, roads and traffic experience to this position,” said St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann. “She will assume responsibility of our Gateway Green Light Program (GGL), a multi-jurisdictional effort to synchronize traffic signals on streets throughout the county to reduce unnecessary delays, improve traffic flow and cut emissions that contribute to ozone pollution. Amanda will be key to our continued success in building partnerships throughout the county and state to improve the transportation infrastructure in our community.”

Brauer received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation facilities and transportation systems from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. She completed a Master of Business Administration at Webster University in St. Louis. Brauer is a registered Professional Engineer (PE) and Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE). She is a past president and board member of the Transportation Engineering Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, a LeadershipITE graduate and member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, and former vice president of the St. Louis Chapter of Women’s Transportation Seminar.
