ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO – St. Charles County Department of Public Health Director Hope Woodson announced today that she has promoted Sara Evers to assistant director. In this position, Evers will oversee the Division of Health Services, one of three divisions operated by the department.

“I am honored to have been chosen for this position and look forward to guiding our staff as we enhance the services and improve the health of our residents,” Evers said. “The goals for this division are to address emerging issues as we continue the efforts that have made St. Charles County one of the healthiest communities in Missouri.”

Evers has more than 18 years of experience in public health operations and education. She joined the Department of Public Health in 2015 as its epidemiologist and communicable disease program manager. Prior to that, she was an adjunct professor at both Lindenwood University in St. Charles and Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio. She worked in the communicable disease programs for the St. Louis County Department of Public Health and the St. Louis City Health Department. Evers earned a Master of Public Health degree from the Saint Louis University School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science degree (specializing in biology) from Truman State University.

Services provided by the Division of Health Services include an Immunizations Clinic for children and adults, the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) nutritional supplements and education program, a Sexually Transmitted Disease Prevention and Treatment Clinic, communicable disease investigation, educational programming, emergency preparedness, and the collection and distribution of vital records including U.S. passports, birth records and death certificates.

Through the efforts of its three divisions — Environmental Health and Protection, Health Services and Humane Services — the St. Charles County Department of Public Health provides a wide range of services that enhance the well-being of the community.
