St. Charles County, Missouri—Experts say college students who do an internship – or two, or three – are more likely to have jobs waiting for them when they get out of school. But how do they quickly and easily find out about available paid internships? For those looking in St. Charles County, it just got easy!
A new online internship database developed by the St. Charles County Department of Workforce & Business Development, operator of the Missouri Job Center of St. Charles County, is the answer. The database is comprised of internship positions for skilled occupations paying $10 an hour or more.
“One way to engage the next generation of workforce who are now going away to college is to showcase all the outstanding employment opportunities waiting for them in St. Charles County when they return home for summer break,” says Scott J. Drachnik, Executive Director of the Missouri Job Center of St. Charles County. “We want all these future engineers, accountants, IT professionals, doctors, scientists and other skilled workers to know there are paid internships available right here, in their field of study, when they come home for summer, winter and spring breaks. There is no reason for them to move away for a job when they graduate, because St. Charles County is an award-winning place to live and to work.”
To be included in this online clearinghouse, interested local companies should send intern job descriptions to the Missouri Job Center of St. Charles County, along with basic information such as length of internship, pay, etc. Positions are added to the new “Paid Internships” section of the center’s website: http://sccmo.org/Internships
“We are ready to assist any local company offering paid internships that are linked to skilled occupations or projects connected to a college student’s field of study,” says Drachnik, emphasizing that internships for unskilled positions will not be included in this database.
There is no charge to either the student or the business for this service.
