St. Charles County, Missouri — Apprenticeships are a tried and true method of recruiting and training a skilled workforce. To help local businesses better understand the benefits of this time-tested approach, an Apprenticeship 101 Breakfast Forum will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Missouri Job Center of St. Charles County located at 212 Turner Boulevard in St. Peters, Mo.

“We are proud to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week by holding our Apprenticeship 101 Forum to help inform local business and civic leaders about a proven model of hiring and training skilled workers that is growing in popularity across the nation,” said Scott J. Drachnik, director of the St. Charles County Department of Workforce Development.

Drachnik said there are more than 21,000 registered apprenticeship programs and 500,000 active apprentices across the nation as of fiscal year 2016. “Currently there are more than 1,300 job classifications recognized for registered apprenticeship by the U.S. Department of Labor, and they include job titles across all business sectors,” Drachnik said. “This employment approach can work for any type of business and is a win-win for the employer and the new employee.”
