St. Charles County, Missouri – The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department offers a variety of outdoor educational opportunities for schools, scouts, churches, and other organizations throughout the year. Children ages 4–12 will discover nature and history in new and exciting ways when they participate in a group field trip in a county park.

It’s easy to be a part of these unique experiences. You choose the park, pack your lunch, and we’ll do the rest! Depending on the number of children in your group and staff availability, park activities may include a nature hike, learning about park history, exploring native plant and animal life in Missouri, discovering fishing, and learning about aquatic life, and forest ecology.

If you’re looking for a traditional park experience, choose one of our parks featuring natural- and paved-surfaced trails, interpretive areas, and water features for children to explore. The Certified Nature Explore Classroom at Towne Park has become a favorite destination due to its dynamic, nature-based play and learning space, which supports skill development in children by reconnecting them with the outdoors. Additional parks to consider are Broemmelsiek Park, Klondike Park, Indian Camp Creek Park and Quail Ridge Park.

If your group is looking for a more cultural or traditional recreation experience, choose from The Historic Daniel Boone Home, Heritage Museum or the Youth Activity Park. These parks have exhibits, historical landmarks, rock climbing walls and more for children to enjoy.

Educational Outreach Programs typically last a couple hours and are scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. The cost of each program may vary depending on the size of the group. A nominal fee per student will apply. Groups are encouraged to spend the rest of the day in the park after completing their activities with us.

Whether it’s an end of the year celebration, or just a chance to spend the day outside and off-campus, our park outings are the perfect activities to schedule! Call the parks department at 636-949-7535 to register your group and let our park staff and volunteers guide your children through an outdoor experience they won’t forget!
