1. Tornado, Severe Storms Cause $3.4 Million in Damages
Missouri Governor Mike Parson visited the Defiance area after a tornado and severe storms ripped through the area on Friday, Dec. 10. Estimated damages are more than $3.4 million, according to assessments completed by County inspectors. 2. Personal Property Assessments to Be Mailed This Month
The Assessor’s Office will mail 2022 personal property assessment forms later this month. Assessments are due March 1. Individual personal property owners have the option to file online after receiving their form in the mail. For questions, contact ext. 7420 or email the office.

3. County Acquires Property for Future Park in Wentzville St. Charles County has purchased land near Wentzville that will bring the number of County parks to 21. The property is 199 acres.
“Wentzville is a growing, rapidly changing area,” says St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann, “and this beautiful park property gives us an opportunity to maintain green space for the future. The Parks Department has other properties in reserve for that very reason. - 2022-2024 Transportation Improvement Plan
The County Council approved the 2022-2024 Transportation Improvement Plan (TIP) Dec. 20. The TIP includes projects focused on reducing congestion, improving traffic flow, and reducing the number of crashes and the severity rating at improved intersections and along improved roadways. Project highlights include Route 370 Interchange Ramps at Salt River Road in St. Peters, Route Z Widening and Signalization in Wentzville, Highway K /Highway N Intersection Improvements in O’Fallon, Technology Drive Improvements in Lake Saint Louis, and Plaza Way Extension in St. Charles.
- Emergency Weather Response Program
When winter weather temperatures fall below 20 degrees Fahrenheit, the Emergency Weather Response program activates to aid those in need of a warm place to spend the night in St. Charles, Lincoln and Warren counties. The program is coordinated by a group of local agencies, including churches, nonprofits, government and others. If an individual needs assistance on a day the program is activated, they can call 636-395-0492 to learn more about accommodations.
- Assistance for Small Businesses Affected by COVID-19
St. Charles Urban County will offer financial support in the form of a grant for qualified small businesses working to prepare for, prevent and/or respond to COVID-19. The program is intended to assist businesses with 7-50 employees in expanding, remaining in operation, and retaining employees by providing funding for certain essential expenses. Applications are available in hard copy form at the City of St. Charles, 200 N. Second Street, Suite 303, St. Charles, MO 63301; and by email sent to the Urban County CDBG Administrator, Kathleen Thompson.
