1. Oglesby Park Coming Soon to WentzvilleSt. Charles County Parks’ newest park near Wentzville is Oglesby Park, named after one of the property’s early owners. The 199-acre plot of land is at 2949 West Meyer Road and is scheduled to open this summer. Benjamin Oglesby was born enslaved in 1825 in Bedford, Va., and was brought to Missouri in 1837 at the age of 12 by his owner, Marshall Bird. He worked on a farm near present-day I-70 and Highway W in the Foristell/Wentzville area. …MORE

Honoring County Law Enforcement Officers and StaffSt. Charles County’s Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, and Department of Corrections provide services vital to the public’s security and wellbeing. From protective, emergency, and court services to corrections and rehabilitation, commissioned officers and civilian staff stand in the gap and work diligently to improve the community’s public safety. In honor of National Correctional Officers Week May 1-7 and National Police Week May 11-17, the County thanks all its law enforcement officers and staff for their service.

5. Voters Overwhelmingly Approve Prop R for RoadsEvery precinct in St. Charles County approved Prop R for Roads April 5, voting to reauthorize the County’s ½-cent Transportation Sales Tax for another 10 years. The tax originally was enacted by voters in 1985, and this is the fourth time it has been reauthorized. It was overwhelmingly approved by nearly 72 percent of voters. … MORE

- Air Mobility Liaison Training at Smartt Field: St. Charles County Regional Airport - Smartt Field is used for Air Mobility Liaison Officer (AMLO) training twice a year. AMLOs assist in coordinating airlift and army and marine ground forces for military or humanitarian operations. Smartt Field provides the Air Force with a great location for training and field exercises.
- American Flag Collection Boxes Available: Have a used or damaged American flag? Drop it off at the flag collection box in front of the St. Charles County Administration Building or at Veterans Tribute Park. Flags collected will be disposed of ceremoniously.
- 30th Annual Peace Officers Memorial Candlelight Service: This service, held May 4 at Baue St. Charles Memorial Gardens, honors the men and women of law enforcement who lost their lives in the line of duty and those who died while serving.

The St. Charles County Veterans Committee will host its annual Memorial Day Program at 1 p.m., Monday, May 30 at the Veterans Memorial Plaza and Garden at St. Charles County’s Veterans Tribute Park.
