2. Election Authority Advises Voters About Polling Location Changes

With the release of the 2022 legislative redistricting map, the St. Charles County Election Authority advises residents that many voters across the county have new polling locations assigned to them. The change begins with the Aug. 2 Primary Election.

“This redistricting means approximately 45 percent of households, or about 130,000 St. Charles County voters, will vote at a new polling location,” says Director of Elections Kurt Bahr. “I encourage all voters to confirm their polling place before the upcoming election to ensure they are able to complete the process efficiently on election day.”

5. ARPA Funds to Benefit Nonprofits, Repair Roadways

The St. Charles County Council recently approved distribution of the County’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to benefit local nonprofit agencies and to go toward replacing street slabs and reconstructing asphalt roadways throughout the county. The St. Charles County Developmental Disabilities Resource Board (DDRB) and the Community and Children’s Resource Board of St. Charles County (CCRB) will receive $4.2 million, and local veterans’ agencies will receive $300,000.

St. Charles County Executive Steve Ehlmann proposed $20 million for County road repairs. Of that, $10 million is ARPA funds, and $10 million is generated from the County’s ½-cent Transportation Sales Tax funds. The sales tax funds could then be combined with a 50-50 match with municipalities for their own slab replacement programs, potentially resulting in $30 million of road replacement and improvement throughout the county.
