A bill passed at the Sept. 26 St. Charles County Council meeting maintains the amount of tax the County collects in 2022 compared with tax year 2021 to address the effects of vehicle value inflation arising from vehicle shortages. 2. Trunk-or-Treat at Police Department Oct. 22

Ready for spooktacular fun? Enjoy games, giveaways and, of course, lots of treats at the St. Charles County Police Department Trunk-or-Treat from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22. This free event is open to children ages 12 and under and their parents/guardians. Candy donations and decorated vehicles are needed for this event! Sign up to donate candy or decorate a vehicle and find more information.

3. Public Health Hosting Flu Vaccine Clinic Oct. 21
St. Charles County Public Health is hosting a free, drive-through flu vaccination clinic for the public from 2 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21, on the Yellow Parking Lot at St. Charles Community College at 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville. Appointments are required and can be scheduled for both the quadrivalent influenza vaccine and the high-dose vaccine.

4. Workforce Opening at New Location

The St. Charles County Department of Workforce & Business Development opens at its new location at 3757 Harry S Truman Boulevard in St. Charles Oct. 3, and the public is invited to visit the new space for a week-long open house Oct. 24-28. Stop by to learn more about the services offered for job seekers and employers, including on-the-job training, recruiting events, and skills workshops.

5. Public Invited to Regional Airport - Smartt Field Open House Oct. 29

Visit St. Charles County’s Regional Airport - Smartt Field for the annual Open House and Pumpkin Drop from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 29! Stop by for airplane pumpkin drop competitions; displays of military and historic aircraft and vehicles, including the 2nd Ranger Infantry Battalion Re-Enactment display; warbird rides; tours of the Commemorative Air Force Museum; and more! Food and drink will be available to purchase. Learn more.

  • National Prescription Drug Takeback Day
    The St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department is sponsoring a National Prescription Drug Takeback Day drop-off location to ensure safe disposal of unused or expired prescription medications. A curbside collection site will be set up from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21, at the Courthouse at 300 N. Second St. in St. Charles. A disposal kiosk also is available 24/7 at the St. Charles County Police station lobby at 101 Sheriff Dierker Ct. in O’Fallon. Sharps, including injectables and needles, cannot be accepted.     St. Charles County Parks & Recreation is busy this fall with lots of seasonal events and programs for the whole family! A Message from the County Executive

In most settings, and especially in our economic climate, $810,000 is a large sum of money. And while those extra funds would certainly benefit our tax pools for Road & Bridge and Dispatch & Alarm, the nearly 30 percent year-over-year increase of vehicle personal property tax values is quite literally out of the control of our taxpayers. It is, however, in the control of St. Charles County Government to set its 2022 tax rates, and we have worked to help alleviate this burden by keeping property tax revenues on vehicles the same as 2021, and keep $810,000 in the collective pockets of the public....MORE

When I first moved to St. Charles County there was so much open space, I felt like I had moved to the country. It didn’t take long, however, to see the farm fields turn into rooftops and streets. And that is when I decided to run for office and try to make a change. My campaign slogan was “preserving the past and assuring the future.” What I meant by that was to preserve as much open space as possible so that future generations could enjoy what I did when my family and I moved to St. Charles County. …MORE
