1. New Police K9 Teaming Up with 
St. Louis CITY SC

Meet the newest addition to the St. Charles County Police Department (SCCPD)’s K9 Unit! Spirit, a German Shorthaired Pointer, was gifted by St. Louis CITY Soccer Club (SC) and specializes in explosive detection. She and her handler, Officer Jeff Spain, will serve at all the CITY SC home games in addition to events and cases in St. Charles County. Purina is partnering with CITY SC to provide all the food for Spirit during her career. Welcome to the SCCPD family, Spirit!

2. Be Prepared When Severe Weather Arrives

March 6-10 is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in Missouri, but you can rest assured St. Charles County Regional Emergency Management (REM) is watching and preparing for severe weather every day of the year. 

While emergency responders and government agencies plan and train to respond to disasters of all sizes and types, it is critical for individuals and families to be able to sustain themselves until professional help can arrive or vital services, such as electricity, can be restored. 3. County Highway Department Launches Snow Route Progress Map
It may look and feel like Spring some days, but as Missourians know, weather can change in an instant! So, if winter weather strikes again this season, St. Charles County residents and travelers can access snow removal information about roads maintained by the St. Charles County Highway Department in real time. The department has launched a new snow route progress map now available online to the public. …MORE

4. Citizen Police Academies Open for Applications

The St. Charles County Police Department is offering its Citizen Police Academy this spring, and the Sheriff’s Department is launching Citizen Police Academy 2.0 to dive into the Sheriff’s Department role as well as the judicial process in the county. Participants for either program must complete a background check, be a county resident, at least 21 years of age, and possess a valid Missouri driver’s license. Applicants for CPA 2.0 must have previously completed a Citizen Police Academy program in St. Charles County. Learn more on the Police Department and Sheriff’s Department webpages.

5. Spotlight On: The Assessor's Office

Personal property assessment forms are due March 1 each year and are used to establish personal property values for the current tax year. But these forms are just one piece of information the Assessor’s Office uses to ensure all citizens are paying a fair share. 

The Assessor’s Office works throughout the year to collect information to set the fair market value on both real estate and personal property. To calculate real estate values, the Office collects sales data, detailed sketch information, parcel maps and property lot lines, and also conducts trend analyses, paired sales analyses, and other real estate value-related functions. Personal property values are gathered from set values from the previous year using the mandated guides as required by state statute. This data is available to the public, both in the Assessor’s office and online. …MORE

A Message from the County Executive

The St. Charles County Council approved putting a 3 percent marijuana sales tax authorized in the adult use “recreational” amendment to the Missouri Constitution on the April 4 ballot, leaving it up to voters to decide whether the County will collect this revenue from the sale of recreational marijuana. The industry suggested passage of recreational marijuana would save money for law enforcement prosecution and courts. Medical marijuana will remain exempt from such local taxation. ...MORE
