Watch for Snow Days in the Parks in January and February 2017

Snow Day in the Park

Whoo-Hoo! The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department is offering snow day activities in the park during the months of January and February in 2017.

If area schools cancel classes, it's not too cold, and there is a significant amount of snowfall on the ground, the Parks Department is prepared to host a Snow Day program at Quail Ridge Park in Wentzville.

Guests of all ages can join in the fun of an exciting snowman building contest, scavenger hunt, and snow relays from 11 a.m. -2 p.m. at the popular hillside near the entrance to the park. Prizes will be awarded to the winners of each activity. Additionally, a warming fire will be available for participants and spectators.

Many thanks to the CodeBusters for donating eight bat houses to the Parks Department.

Thank You Volunteers

Many thanks to the CodeBusters FIRST Lego League Team for donating eight bat boxes to the Parks Department.

The Lego Robotics team, sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri -Troop 867 in St. Charles, constructed the bat boxes as part of the Animal Allies project they had to complete to enter this year’s competition. The team had to develop a project that allows people to help animals and animals to help people, so they built and donated the bat boxes. The bat boxes will be installed in the parks this winter.

We are grateful for the thousands of citizens who give back to the community by volunteering in our parks. If you would like to become a volunteer or make a donation to the Parks Department, call 636-949-7535 or fill out a volunteer application at www.stccparks.org.

Celebrate the groundbreaking of the new bridges over 364/94!

Save the Date!

Celebrate with our friends at Great Rivers Greenway as they break ground for the Centennial Greenway bridges over Highways 364 and 94. The ceremony will take place from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, at the St. Charles County Heritage Museum at Heritage Park, 1630 Heritage Landing in St. Peters.

The new bridges extend the Centennial Greenway from the KATY Trail and Heritage Museum across Highways 364 and 94. It will also connect the Centennial Greenway to Wapelhorst Park in the City of St. Charles and Laurel Park in St. Peters. When complete, citizens will be able to safely walk or ride a bike across these busy highways and connect to schools, surrounding neighborhoods, parks, businesses and other area attractions.

Great Rivers Greenway is a regional parks and trails district connecting St. Charles County, St. Louis County, and St. Louis City in a network of greenways. For more information about the ground breaking ceremony, visit Great Rivers Greenway’s website, call 314-436-7009 or email info@grgstl.org
