Are you looking for a unique and unforgettable experience for your next get together? Reserve our new Marksman Training Simulator at the St. Charles County Heritage Museum at Heritage Park near St. Charles! Now you can hunt big game and shoot clay targets with friends and family at your own private event.

The interactive digital hunting simulator, donated by August A. Busch III, has the largest video shooting surface in the world and is one of only three of its kind in the United
States! 

This fun hunting experience is perfect for both seasoned and novice hunters alike. Your group of 25 guests can have exclusive use of simulator for $75 per hour or $200 for three hours.

Total Eclipse in the Park Event Reservations Open  

We are now taking reservations for our Total Eclipse in the Park events, on Monday, Aug. 21, 2017, at Klondike Park near Augusta, Broemmelsiek Park near Defiance and Quail Ridge Park near Wentzville. Admission is free, but each park event is limited to 1,000 registered guests, so register early! Registered guests will also receive a pair of commemorative glasses for safe viewing during the event. 

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience this once-in-a-lifetime event as the moon passes directly in front of the sun, causing total darkness in our area. Gates open at 9 a.m. and the total solar eclipse begins to unfold at approximately 11:48 a.m. Klondike Park will see 2 minutes 14 seconds of totality, Broemmelsiek Park 1 minute 35 seconds, and Quail Ridge Park, 1 minute 1 second.  

Admission is free, but each park event is limited to 1,000 and registration is required. Each family may reserve up to five tickets. Registered guests will receive commemorative glasses for safe viewing during the event. To pre-register, go to www.stccparks.org or call our office at 636-949-7535.

The Parks Department is seeking Outstanding Volunteer Nominations.

Nominate an Outstanding Volunteer

The St. Charles County Parks and Recreation Department is seeking nominations for its Outstanding Volunteer Awards through March 17, 2017. The awards will be presented at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Night held during National Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 23-29.

To qualify, nominees must have assisted with volunteer projects that have to do with natural resources and the environment; trail maintenance; forestry and horticulture; or education and historical presentation. The group or individual nominees must be currently active or must have engaged in St. Charles County Parks volunteer activities for a minimum of one year. Nominees cannot be previous award winners.

 Awards will be given in the following categories: 

  • Individual – an individual who volunteers
  • Family – a family that volunteers together on the same project
  • Group/Organization – a group or organization of two or more citizens who volunteer together on the same project(s) under a group or organization name
  • Youth – a citizen (age 17 or younger) who volunteers
  • Senior – a citizen (age 55 or older) who volunteers
  • Corporate/Business – a corporation or business whose employees have made a substantial impact in the community by effectively engaging in a volunteer park project together.
  • Faith-Based – a faith-based organization whose members have made a substantial impact in the community by effectively engaging in a volunteer park project together.
  • Lifetime Achievement – an individual volunteer who has exhibited a lifelong commitment to volunteerism and preserving nature and history in St. Charles County Parks. Nominees must have made a substantial and long-term sustainable impact on the parks system as a result of their volunteer efforts.
To nominate a volunteer or group that meets the outlined criteria, submit a nomination form to the Parks Department no later than March 17. The forms can be found on our website at www.stccparks.org. The forms may be submitted via email, or a printed copy may be mailed, postmarked no later than March 3, to:

Whether you’re interested in registering yourself for a hands-on activity in the park, or enrolling your child in a fun preschool nature program, the Parks Department has something enjoyable for all ages this spring.
