Who is responsible for the various roads in the county?
The County Highway Department is responsible for maintenance of public roads in the unincorporated areas of St. Charles that are not under the control of the Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) or the local municipalities. MoDOT controls any lettered or numbered route (Route A, Route DD, Route F, Hwy. 79, Hwy. 94, etc.). The local cities control any roadways within their municipal boundaries.
