Property taxes are made up of 2 components:
The assessed value, as determined by the County Assessor, is based upon a percentage of the market value of the property. The tax rate per $100 of assessed value, is determined by the location of the property.

- Your rates are determined by the voters and may have increased.
- Values are determined by the assessor per NADA - & may have increased.
- You have a new vehicle
The Citizens of St. Charles County adopted Section 137.082 RSMo providing for the assessment and collection of Occupancy Tax during the 1990 General Election. This section states "a building or other structure classified as residential property... newly constructed and occupied... shall be assessed and taxed... as of the first day of the month following the date of occupancy for the proportionate part of the remaining year....".
