What are the important tax dates and when are taxes due?
Tax bills are mailed to taxpayers by December 1 of the tax year. Bills are due upon receipt. The latest you can pay without paying interest for a late payment or a penalty is by December 31 of the tax year. Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve a taxpayer of the obligation to pay timely (Section 52.240 RSMo). Payments received on or after January 1st of the year following the year for which tax was assessed must include late payment interest and penalty in accordance with Sections 52.590, 139.100 and 140.100 RSMo.
