1. Are there any fees associated with medical, dental or psychiatric care while incarcerated?

Yes. A variety of fees may be charged to an inmate’s / detainee’s account – most are dependent upon the needs of the inmate / detainee.

Fees charged to the inmate account:

• Booking fee: $10 (fee set and required by county ordinance)
• Haircuts fee: vary dependent upon services requested
• Letters of Incarceration: $10 (fee set and required by county ordinance)
• Duplicate(s) of the same Letter of Incarceration, requested at time of service: $2 each letter
• Fees for doctor’s visits: $10 $ (fee set and required by county ordinance)
• Fees for dentist’s visits: $10 (fee set and required by county ordinance)
• Fees for nursing sick call: $5 (fee set and required by county ordinance)
• Fees per prescription (medical or psychiatric), per 30 day supply: $10 per prescription $10 (fee set and required by county ordinance)
• Over the counter pain relievers: $0.60 per dose
• Initial assessments / physicals: no cost
• Mental Health Counseling: no cost

No medical services are withheld based on an inmate’s / detainee’s inability to pay. In those cases of indigence, a running tabulation of expenses incurred as a result of medical or dental care or prescription services provided will be maintain by the St. Charles County Department of Corrections (SCCDOC) for future reimbursement as the inmate’s / detainee’s funds become available.

2. Are there housing fees associated with being held by the Department of Corrections?

Yes. St. Charles County charges per diem fees to recover room, board and medical expenses for persons committed to the custody of the St. Charles County Department of Corrections (SCCDOC). The authority for levy and collection of these charges is set forth in Section 221.070, RSMo, and County Ordinance Section 150.060.

3. How can I put money on an inmate’s / detainee’s account?

Money may be deposited to the inmate’s / detainee’s account by family and friends for purposes of commissary purchases, phone calls, payment of bonds or fees for services. Payment into the inmate’s / detainee’s accounts can be completed at the ATM in the lobby of the St. Charles County Department of Corrections (SCCDOC) or online at the JailATM website.

The facility no longer will accept money orders; all payment must be made in cash at the ATM in the lobby or by debit or credit card. Any money orders mailed into the facility will be placed in the inmate’s / detainee’s property or returned to the sender. Those funds will not be credited to the inmate / detainee account. There is a processing fee associated with depositing money on an account. The JailATM kiosk does not dispense funds.

4. What happens to the money taken from the arrestee upon admission to the jail?

All money in possession of someone being booked into the adult detention facility will be collected from the individual and placed in an inmate account specially set up for that inmate.

Upon his/her release from the facility there will be a debit card issued for any cash remaining in that inmate’s / detainee’s account.

5. How do I post bond for an inmate / detainee?

You may also post bond for an inmate via the lobby ATM or online at the JailATM website. If the case for which the inmate is incarcerated is a case within the St. Charles County Court System (11th Judicial Circuit), bond may also be posted at the St. Charles County Courthouse, which is located at:

For ease in posting bond at the courthouse, it will be important to know what court division the case is out of.

6. What happens after an inmate’s bond is posted?

After an inmate’s bond is posted either online, at the JailATM kiosk in the lobby, or at the courthouse, it may take some time for booking to process their release. Once that process is completed, they will exit our building from the side door located on Adams Street.
