    Medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse. Help prevent prescription drug abuse by ridding your home of unwanted, unused and expired medication. Anonymously and safely dispose of your medication in the disposal kiosk located at the front entrance of the SCCPD station lobby. Liquids, needles, and sharps are not accepted. Follow these steps when disposing of unwanted medications: 1. Keep the medication in its original container. 2. Remove or blacken out all personal information, but leave the name and dosage of the medication visible. 3. Bring medication to the disposal kiosk.     A tree in your yard increases property value, lowers utility bills and adds natural beauty. Celebrate Earth Day at the Division of Environmental Health and Protection office, Recycle Works Central or Recycle Works West and pick up a Missouri-native tree, while supplies last.

    The County’s Recycle Works facilities accept aluminum cans, clean paper, certain plastics and corrugated cardboard at no charge to residents. Glass is accepted at the Recycle Works West facility only. Various electronic items, appliances and accessories are processed for a small fee. St. Charles County's Medical Reserve Corps is a volunteer-based unit or medically trained and non-medical professionals alike who put their knowledge and skills to use in helping our community. The Department of Public Health sponsors the local MRC unit. Monthly meetings are designed to prepare members for all-hazard emergencies. Discussions include the various roles within the County's emergency response plan, hands-on training opportunities and advanced certifications.   3. CLOCK HOUR CLASS - Managing Diabetes and Seizures in Childcare Settings

    Qualifying pet owners will receive dry dog or cat food on a first-come, first-served basis.

    To qualify, pet owners must:

    • Register in advance by calling 636-949-7387 and present identification proving St. Charles County residency
    • Show proof of need
    • Show proof of current rabies vaccination for each animal covered or update the animal's shot record at the time of registration.
    • Show proof that the animal is altered or make arrangements to do so at the time of registration.
    • Bring a container large enough to carry at least three pounds of food.

  5. Operation Sterile Feral (by appointment only)

    St. Charles County has operated a successful spay/neuter program for feral cats since 2003 and has treated thousands of animals to help control overpopulation. The Operation Sterile Feral program is run through the County's Pet Adoption Center and a team of volunteers. One Sunday each month, residents may bring feral cats from their property to take advantage of the affordable service.
    The $20 per animal fee includes alteration, vaccination for rabies and treatment for any parasites the cat may have.
