  1. David Hoekel Parkway #1B/South Point Prairie Road Improvements Open House

    December 11, 2018, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ Wentzville R-IV School District Office

    The St. Charles County Highway Department will hold an informational open house from 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, regarding improvements planned for David Hoekel Parkway #1B/South Point Prairie Road. The meeting will be held at the Wentzville R-IV School District Office, 280 Interstate Drive in Wentzville. Improvements to the road will be from near Cedar Branch Lane to just north of the intersection at Route N and will include realignment of the existing roadway to improve safety of curves; new paved shoulders and sight distance improvements; and updates to drainage facilities. A preliminary plan by the consulting firm of Horner & Shifrin will be shared at the meeting and residents are encouraged to view the plan and provide comments.   1. Adult, Child and Infant First Aid, CPR and AED Certification

    December 11, 2018, 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM @ Public Health

    If someone stops breathing or their heart stops beating, immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can provide life-saving help until medical professionals arrive. To spread the knowledge for proper procedure, the Department of Public Health teaches certification in adult, child and infant CPR and First Aid, as well as instruction in the usage of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs). Upon successful completion of this one-day training, participants will receive an American Red Cross certification that is valid for up to two years. Class is limited to the first 20 registered participants.

    Qualifying pet owners will receive dry dog or cat food on a first-come, first-served basis. To qualify, pet owners must:

    • Register in advance by calling 636-949-7387 and present identification proving St. Charles County residency
    • Show proof of need
    • Show proof of current rabies vaccination for each animal covered or update the animal's shot record at the time of registration.
    • Show proof that the animal is altered or make arrangements to do so at the time of registration.
    • Bring a container large enough to carry at least three pounds of food.

    Recycling your natural Christmas tree gives one last holiday gift to our community. To make recycling natural trees more convenient for St. Charles County residents, the Division of Environmental Health and Protection partners with several area agencies to present a free collection at locations throughout our community. Before bringing natural trees to any of the locations below, residents must remove the tree stand, all decorations and any coverings.

    In addition, the Recycle Works facilities will accept light strands, cardboard gift boxes and wrapping paper. Various types of electronics devices and accessories are accepted for a small fee.
